Michael Fassbender naked (again!) for Obsession magazine

by Dimitris Ioannou

Michael Fassbender seems to can't keep his pants on. After bearing it all for Steve McQueen's “Shame”, the talented actor takes off his clothes once more, but now for the French lifestyle magazine Obsession.

The famous photographer Jean-Baptiste Mondino guides Hollywood's favorite actor to what it seems like a strip-tease in reverse.

In the interview that accompanies the photoshoot, Fassbender explains that he enjoys being compared with Marlon Brando or Robert De Niro, as he admired them both when he was a teenager, but he is not sure if a label like that is totally true.

For the entire interview (in French), go here.

Jennifer Lawrence rocks on the new Rolling Stone cover

by Dimitris Ioannou

“The Hunger Games” star Jennifer Lawrence covers the April's issue of Rolling Stone magazine, wearing a see-through white T-shirt and jeans, and having the look of the girl who is ready to conquer the world. Not only with her appearance, but also with her acting skills and the attitude of an artist who knows where she stands.
She is only 21-years-old, but the young actress is already known from the Oscar-nominated film “Winter's Bones”, the blockbuster “X-Men: First Class”, alongside Michael Fassbender, and now “The Hunger Games” trilogy, where she plays the sweet but tough Katniss Everdeen. The books have already sell more than 24 million copies and now the movies are expected to exceed even the “Twilight's” success.
Some of her co-stars and friends explain at the magazine their first meeting with the actress. Woody Harrelson from “The Hunger Games” remembers: “I was on my bus,” he says, "and on my bus I have a yoga swing. Jennifer comes on, and she goes, 'Hi, Woody, I'm J— is that a sex swing?' Her first sentence to me.”.
Josh Hutcherson, also from “The Hunger Games”: “When I got cast, she called me up for one of those five-minute 'Excited to work with you, blah, blah, blah' things. The conversation started with her saying, 'Think about a catheter going in – ouch!' and then turns into a 45-minute rant about zombies and the apocalypse.”.
And Zoë Kravitz, who met Lawrence at “X-Men: First Class” and are best friends since then: “I'd met her a few times, and she was like, 'You should come over and we'll hang out.' So I go over to her apartment, and she opens the door in a towel. She's like, 'Come in, sorry, you're early, I was about to shower.' And she drops her towel and gets in the shower, and starts shaving her legs, totally naked. She was like, 'Are we here yet? Is this OK?' And I was like, 'I guess we're there!'”.
She sure knows how to make a good first impression.

Jon Hamm: Don Draper... is a fundamentally fucked up human being

by Dimitris Ioannou

For the May cover of Esquire UK, the talented Mr. Hamm leaves aside suits and ties, walks into a restaurant, eats a hamburger and talks about almost everything we want to know about him. His “Mad Men” character Don Draper, the show and even about being considered sexy by the majority of women all over the world.

Jon Hamm explains that in order to play the role that brought him to stardom, he had to go deep into his life and find things that related him to the character. However he doesn't think of him as a man who could be his best friend in real life. “There is no Don Draper,” he says. “Don Draper was blown up in a ditch in Korea. That whole ‘Be Don Draper’ thing, I feel it’s… sad. This is a fundamentally fucked up human being.”.

You might wonder what was Jon's first reaction when he got the script of “Mad Men”, but you will be surprised to know that he didn't like it from the beginning. “I remember picking it up. Mad Men: sh**** title. AMC: network no-one’s ever heard of. Two strikes. Then I read it. I said to her (girlfriend Jennifer Westfeldt), ‘This is the best pilot I’ve ever read in my life.’”.

Every woman wants to marry him and every guy wants to be like him, even though Don Draper isn't that good of a man. But Jon is. And he also is sexy, although he doesn't feel like it. “There’s a lot of talk about, ‘Oooh, you’re so sexy!’. If people put that mantle on you, fine, but you take it with a wink and a pinch of salt. At 41 I’m like, give me a break, man, I’m no Ryan Gosling. And that’s fine. I don’t aspire to be that. That’s not my jam.”

Amy Winehouse leaves £3 million fortune to her parents

by Dimitris Ioannou

Amy Winehouse's unexpected death last year shocked the world, as the singer was only 27 years old, but now it has been revealed that she left her almost £3 million fortune to her parents, Mitch and Janis Winehouse.

Winehouse had an estate worth £4,257,580, which was reduced to £2,944,554 after paid debts and taxes. Her parents receive the whole amount of her fortune, as the singer did not make a will. As a result her former husband Blake Fielder-Civil will not get even a penny.

The British singer passed away last July because of alcohol poisoning at her flat in Camden. Weeks before her death, she canceled scheduled concerts around Europe, after videos of her trying to sing drunk in the stage of Belgrade, published online.

Russell Crowe as Noah in new Darren Aronofsky movie

by Dimitris Ioannou

The deals are done for the new Darren Aronofsky's project “Noah”, about an edgy Biblical re-telling of Noah's Ark. According to Deadline, in the New Regency/Paramount co-production will star Russell Crowe as Noah, although he wasn't Aronofsky's first choice. An official announcement should come sometime next week.

At first the director wanted Christian Bale for the role, but Bale was committed to doing the Terrence Malick-directed “Lawless” and “Knight Of Cups” so there was no time for a third movie. Michael Fassbender was also a name that was heard for the project, but apparently they didn't pan out.

“Noah” will follow Aronofsky's Oscar-nominated hit “Black Swan” and might be a good chance for Crowe to claim a second Academy Award after the one he got for the 2000 “Gladiator”. The movie joins a bevy of Biblical films including Steve Spielberg’s gritty “Moses” re-telling for Warner Bros.

“Since I was a kid, I have been moved and inspired by the story of Noah and his family’s journey. The imaginations of countless generations have sparked to this epic story of faith. It’s my hope that I can present a window into Noah’s passion and perseverance for the silver screen.” said Aronofsky.

The movie budget is estimated in about $130 million dollars.

First official teaser trailer for “Breaking Dawn: Part 2”

by Dimitris Ioannou

Only 241 days before the last part of “The Twilight Saga” franchise hits the theaters and the first official teaser trailer released online. Although in the 15 seconds video we do not see at all how Kristen Stewart's character, Bella Swan, is as a vampire, we get a glimpse from both Edward Cullen and werewolf Jacob Black and their first reaction to her.

The very brief teaser begins with the classic shot of Washington state's snow capped mountains and then we see Bella running through the woods at high speed. Later, Taylor Lautner, welcomes the brand new and very powerful Bella, in a skintight shirt, looking very buff and Robert Pattinson touches her -now- pale hand with the wedding ring telling her “We're the same temperature now”.

For all “Twilight” fans who want to see a bigger, much fuller trailer, they can wait only until this Friday. At the same day with the release of the new franchise “The Hunger Games” in theaters, the entire “Breaking Dawn: Part 2” trailer will be released too.

Until Friday, check the video below...

Charlie Sheen returns to “Two and a Half Men” in... Kathy Bates form!

by Dimitris Ioannou

At the beginning of the 9th season of “Two and a Half Men” last fall, Charlie Sheen's character Charlie Harper was killed off the show, but it seems that the creator Chuck Lorre can't live without him for very long. So, for the Aprils 30 episode, Charlie Haprer returns... as a ghost! And not only Charlie Sheen wont play the role, but in fact a female actress and almost 20 years older than him will visit Alan.

As CBS announced on Monday, “Harry's Law” star Kathy Bates will guest on the show as Charlie Harper's ghost. In the episode, Jon Cryer's character Alan Harper suffers a minor heart attack, and is visited by Harper's ghost in the hospital.

Although Sheen was very lovable by the audience, his bizarre behavior off-screen and the insults towards Lorre made the last one decide to cut him off the hit series, by making him fall in front of a train in France, implying that he was pushed by his bride Rose, after she caught him with another woman, in the first episode. Sheen was replaced by Ashton Kutcher, who plays heartbroken internet billionaire Walden Schmidt.

Vampire Johnny Depp in the first “Dark Shadows” trailer

by Dimitris Ioannou

It's been about two years since the last time Tim Burton and Johnny Depp worked together in “Alice in Wonderland”, but now the two friends have something new to show us. “Dark Shadows” is the latest Gothic-horror tale from the brilliant director and the first trailer is already online.

In the two and a half minute video we see Barnabas Collins played by Johnny Depp, transformed into a vampire and buried alive by an evil but sexy witch (Eva Green). Hundreds of years later, he escapes from the tomb and returns to his family home to meet his ancestors.

“Dark Shadows” is adapted from the cult TV show of the '60s with the same name. Though the theme might sound a bit scary, in fact the movie has a lot of funny moments -most of them by Johnny Depp- and seems to be one of Burton's best movies so far.

Besides the trailer a new poster published yesterday, revealing the entire cast of the film, including Michelle Pfeiffer, Chloe Moretz, Johnny Lee Miller and Helena Bonham Carter. The movie is scheduled for a May 11 release.

Take a look at the trailer below and let me know what do you think.

HBO cancels “Luck” after third horse dies

by Dimitris Ioannou

After the death of a third horse during the filming of HBO's racetrack drama series “Luck” this Tuesday, the network finally decided to cancel the production. We are already two episodes since the end of this season and although the show starring Dustin Hoffman earned a second-season pickup for 10 more episodes, everything came to an end.

The network released this statement:

“It is with heartbreak that executive producers David Milch and Michael Mann together with HBO have decided to cease all future production on the series Luck. Safety is always of paramount concern. We maintained the highest safety standards throughout production, higher in fact than any protocols existing in horseracing anywhere with many fewer incidents than occur in racing or than befall horses normally in barns at night or pastures. While we maintained the highest safety standards possible, accidents unfortunately happen and it is impossible to guarantee they won’t in the future. Accordingly, we have reached this difficult decision. We are immensely proud of this series, the writing, the acting, the filmmaking, the celebration of the culture of horses, and everyone involved in its creation.”

Two days ago a horse injured while walking back to its barn at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif and was euthanized. Now the American Humane Association is investigating into the set. “Luck” is a big loss for HBO, as the ratings were significantly high, with an averaged of about 4.8 million viewers for each episode.

Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer in “The Lone Ranger”

by Dimitris Ioannou

The first image of Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer in “The Lone Ranger”, the movie's producer Jerry Bruckheimer shared with the world today, by using his twitter account.

As it is revealed Johnny Depp, who plays Lone Ranger's Native American companion Tonto, looks a lot like Jack Sparrow. His painted face, the long dark matted tresses and the crow on the top of his head, can easily confuse. On the other hand, Hammer seems ideal for the role of John Reid aka Lone Ranger, wearing a white hat and a black leather mask.

Helena Bonham Carter, Tom Wilkinson and William Fichtner also star in the movie, which is scheduled for a May 2013 release. It is an adventure tale that will take The Lone Ranger and Tonto across the American plains to bring justice to a corrupt system.

It's not the first time that director Gore Verbinski and Johnny Depp work together, as the duo did three of the “
Pirates Of The Caribbean” movies and the animated “Rango”. Although Hammer featured in many blockbuster movies like “The Social Network” and lately “J. Edgar”, this year's “Mirror, Mirror” and next year with “The Lone Ranger” makes a major step on the Hollywood movie business.

Explosions, Rihanna and the new “Battleship” trailer

by Dimitris Ioannou

The explosions are a lot and the destruction is even bigger, but for the -soaking-wet- Rihanna, nothing stands in her way. For the new trailer of “Battleship”, that hits theaters on May 18, everything appears to be like the last day of the living world.

Within the about two minute snippet, the director Peter Berg clearly wants to... blow our minds with incredible visual effects, and amazing jaw-dropping battles that already fascinate us. And even if you aren't a big fan of action movies, the cast only can persuade you to give this movie a chance. The veteran Liam Neeson and “True Blood's” Alexander Skarsgard, play alongside two super hot women, Brooklyn Decker and pop star Rihanna, in her acting debut.

“This summer, the battle for earth begins at sea” the trailer explains and as you can see in the video below is damn right. What do you think?

“The Town” scriptwriter to take “Top Gun 2”

by Dimitris Ioannou

“The Town” scriptwriter Peter Craig is going to write “Top Gun 2” as Paramount announced yesterday. Craig will fill in the position that Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz of “X-Men: First Class” recently left empty. According to Variety he will be starting from the scratch as the previous writers who were hired back on October, never put a pen to paper.

It is yet unknown if Tom Cruise will return in his role as Lt. Pete "Maverick" Mitchell in the sequel, but the actor may consider coming back to a movie which in 1986 launched him to superstardom. If so, this will be one of the few sequels he starred, except the “Mission: Impossible” franchise. Jerry Bruckheimer Films and David Ellison's Skydance Prods will produce the movie.

“The Avengers” destroy New York

by Dimitris Ioannou

A new trailer for the 3D superhero movie “The Avengers” hit yesterday the Internet, only a day after the official release of the latest poster, showing the team ready to fight evil, whatever, or better, whoever that is.

In the two minutes and 30 seconds trailer we find New York burned to the ground. Buildings collapse, cars explode and everything is given into chaos. Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye join the international agency S.H.I.E.L.D. under the orders of Nick Furry and are expected to save the world.

The new Marvel's blockbuster, directed by Joss Weadon, seems to have everything a viewer could ask. Amazing effects, glorious battles and some of Hollywood's biggest names in the cast. Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo and Scarlett Johansson will reprise their roles as superheroes, introducing Jeremy Renner and Samuel L. Jackson.

The film releases on May 4th nationwide in the USA, but starts its foreign release a week earlier. In some countries like UK the movie will be released under the altered title “Avengers Assemble”.

Cate Blanchett would love to be a Bond villain

by Dimitris Ioannou

In the past she has portrayed the role of queen Elizabeth twice and won an Academy Award for playing the great Katharine Hepburn in Martin Scorsese's film “The Aviator”, but for the talented Cate Blanchett, nothing is enough. As she admits on the April's issue of the UK's edition of Harper's Bazaar, she would love to be a Bond villain.

The Australian actress poses for the acclaimed photographer Alexi Lubomirski, and reveals everything about her career and her future expectations in the interview accompanies the photo shoot. When asked if she was offered a role as a Bond villain, she replied: Oh God! Yes! I’d be there in a heartbeat. I love Lotta Lenya [Ross Klebb in 1963’s From Russia with Love]. She had a club foot and a limp. I’m not a purist in that way.

Although she loves both cinema and theatre she admits that is quite easier to be in charge in a theatre than direct a movie. “There is a film I’d love to direct, but I just don’t know if I’ve got the patience. In theatre, you can have an idea and get on with it. In film, you hear of people sitting on an idea for eight years, by which time the idea has changed and evolved and become something else” she says.

The talented actress who is married to the Australian playwright, screenwriter, and director Andrew Upton and has three kids, manages to balance extremely well both her family and her busy career. “My husband went through a phase of giving me vacuum cleaners, sewing machines and Mixmasters. It’s ironic. He is encouraging me to develop a hobby, I think. An actress once advised me, “Make sure you do your own laundry - it will keep you honest””, she explains.

This April, Blanchett returns to the London stage, starring in Big And Small at the Barbican. Later this year she will reprise the role of Galadriel in the first of “The Hobbit” movies by Peter Jackson. In 2012 she is set to appear in two films directed by Terrence Malick, “Lawless” and “Knight of Cups”.
