by Dimitris Ioannou“The Town” scriptwriter Peter Craig is going to write “Top Gun 2” as Paramount announced yesterday. Craig will fill in the position that Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz of “X-Men: First Class” recently left empty. According to Variety he will be starting from the scratch as the previous writers who were hired back on October, never put a pen to paper.
It is yet unknown if Tom Cruise will return in his role as Lt. Pete "Maverick" Mitchell in the sequel, but the actor may consider coming back to a movie which in 1986 launched him to superstardom. If so, this will be one of the few sequels he starred, except the “Mission: Impossible” franchise. Jerry Bruckheimer Films and David Ellison's Skydance Prods will produce the movie.
